Carrie Underwood is an American vocalist who got her big break on the fourth season of 'American Idol.'
Underwood sang most of her life. She finished high school and college, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2006 from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. While working on finishing her bachelor’s degree, she auditioned for the TV show 'American Idol.'
Her performances during that season were stellar and she was voted winner of the fourth season.
After winning 'American Idol,' she had an amazing string of hits on her first album ‘Some Hearts,’ including ‘Jesus, Take the Wheel’ and ‘Some Hearts.’ The album was a huge hit and won multiple awards. She followed this up with her second album ‘Carnival Ride’ in 2009, which was also a huge hit and again won her multiple awards. Her third album, ‘Play On’ stayed true to form and has again won multiple awards driven by the hit single, ‘Cowboy Casanova.’
She has been inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, won 8 ACM awards, 5 CMA awards, and 4 Grammys, including receiving the Best Female Country Vocal Performance award 3 years in a row.
She stands 5 feet 3 inches tall and is currently married to Ottawa Senators ice hokey player Mike Fisher.
